‘Group’ is comprised of deconstructed found objects and recycled materials. It explores the ritual of meeting in circles. ‘Group’ uses the iconic set-up of “group therapy,” often associated with recovery programs, to examine the vacuous reality of therapeutic endeavors. Traditionally, gathering in a circle creates an inclusive space, ultimately providing an intimate place where we can truly unpack ourselves and be vulnerable. ‘Group’ reveals the essence of this fragility and exposes the burdens brought to the circle. Amy Markanda (designer) and Zanette Singh (artist) collaborate for the first time, merging Markanda’s clean line and simplicity with Singh’s dark haunting undertones.
