The collaborative efforts of furniture artist Britt Olauson and glass artist Julie Gibb result in a refreshing retreat that seduces the visitor to stay a while and anticipate who may return for their sexy belongings.
Julie Gibb graduated from the H.B. Beal Art Program in 1995 and has since received her diploma from the School of Crafts and Design at Sheridan College. Ms Gibb is the recipient of several awards and honours including the Aaron Milrad Award for best decorative arts at the 2003 Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition and a residency at the studio of the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, NY. Her work has been included in the 2002 and 2003 publications of New Glass Review. Julie is a full-time resident of the glass studio at Harbourfront Centre.
Reacting to the beauty and the inherent qualities of strength and durability, Britt makes familiar functional objects in her material of choice ... wood. Since completing studies at Sheridan College in 2002 she has continued to explore the objects and possibilities of the visions that run by her mind's eye. Currently she is a resident artist at the Living Arts Centre in Mississauga.
