The careful sensuality of Luca Brancalion's work resonates through the reclaimed material he has selected for each piece. At a glance, sensual may not seem to be the word fit to describe such organic and graphically charged work but once in its presence one can't help but feel, touch, take it in along with that which it surrounds. The integration of the natural is both innovative and familiar. Art turns to furniture as furniture turns to art. Lucas is a graduate of Sheridan College Furniture Design and has shown at IDS, one-of-a-kind, Nuit Blanche, and private galleries.
Jeremy Cox began his career apprenticing as a prop builder at the Stratford Festival and is a recent graduate of Sheridan College Furniture Design. He combines sculpture, fine craft, assemblage, and found material in his work. Frequently employing natural materials, solid wood and various metals, his pieces are often geometric or pattern-based reflecting a preference for minimal form and a fondness of complex problem solving processes.
Jeremy Cox and Lucas Brancalion are pleased to finally be publicly collaborating for the CUTMR 2008 show.
