‘Impeller’ is an exploration of pervasive computing applied to architectural elements. This project is one in a series of speculative works that look to expanding the definition of building systems through digital and material investigations. A sense of activated apertures and flexible hinges respond to stimuli by slowly opening and closing, impelling air across its plastic membrane and filtering light through its surface. Studio Kimiis is an architectural/design practice that works at the intersection of art, architecture and design. The studio is silhouetted by interests in computation and fabrication and the interplay of digital and material processes.
